In-situ earth retaining structures particularly soil nailing technique, reinforced earth, computational modeling of geotechnical structures using Plaxis2D, Plaxis3D, Slide etc., reliability-based analysis, and ground improvement techniques. |
My doctoral work at IISc Bangalore contributed to the research scheme “Guidelines for Soil Nailing Technique in Highway Engineering (R-86)” sponsored by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India, New Delhi. Recommendations of the thesis on soil nailing analyses, design and construction are added under section 3200 in the fifth revision of MoRTH Specifications for Road and Bridge Works (2013). Further, alongwith my supervisor, I have contributed to the various soil nailing consultancy projects and created a general awareness about the technique among slope stability practitioners.
My MTech thesis at NIT Allahabad was also contributory to the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) project in Basti district, Uttar Pradesh (Northern India). Through extensive laboratory investigation and statistical analysis, I was able to suggest a few correlations related to the design of pavement foundations.
My research publications highlighted and addressed a few important aspects such as computational geotechnical modelling, reliability based analysis, load and resistance factors design method, factorial design of experiments approach, analysis of reinforced earth structures (particularly, soil nailing technique), experimental investigations, etc. |
