Pawan Kumar Rakesh
Assistant Professor

Dr. Rakesh is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand (NIT Uttarakhand), located in Srinagar, Garhwal, India. He has previously held the position of Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering from 2013 to 2016, and served as the Associate Dean (Faculty Welfare) from 2016 to 2020. Working within a dynamic organization, Dr. Rakesh has gained extensive experience in lab development, academic structuring, and student welfare. Since 2018, he has been the coordinator of the Design Innovation Center at NIT Uttarakhand. Dr. Rakesh has published 92 articles in well-regarded international and national journals and conferences. He has organized two international conferences and 18 workshops at the institute. Additionally, he has edited six books, including “Processing of Green Composites,” Springer, ISBN 978-981-13-6019-0; “Advances in Engineering Design,” Springer, ISBN 978-981-334-018-3; “Joining Processes for Dissimilar and Advanced Materials,” ISBN 9780323853996, Elsevier; “Cellulose Composites: Processing and Characterization,” ISBN 978-3-11-076869-5, DE GRUYTER; “Innovative Development in Micromanufacturing Processes,” ISBN 978-1-032-42918-2; and “Polylactic Acid Composites: Sustainable Biocomposites,” ISBN 9783111067285. Dr. Rakesh has also contributed 16 book chapters in various publications by Woodhead Publishing, UK; Wiley-VCH, Verlag Gmbh, Germany; and Springer Nature Singapore Pte. Ltd. He has supervised four PhD students and six MTech students. In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Rakesh received the Best Faculty Award in 2023.
