Dr. Akhilesh Nautiyal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering specializing in Transportation System Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. with a dissertation titled "Pavement Maintenance Management System for Low Volume Rural Roads." His research expertise includes pavement maintenance and sustainable infrastructure development, transportation planning and traffic engineering, road safety, and geospatial techniques for intelligent transportation solutions. Dr. Nautiyal has published in more than 25 peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and international conferences. His work emphasizes innovative maintenance planning, condition-based assessment using GIS, sustainable pavement design, and the application of advanced analytical tools including machine learning and mechanistic-empirical models. Actively engaged in academic leadership and institutional development, Dr. Nautiyal plays a key role in academic governance, contributing to curriculum development and departmental decision-making, oversees laboratory operations to ensure practical learning excellence. Additionally, Dr. Nautiyal holds important administrative responsibilities, including coordination of placement activities and involvement in institutional planning and management as Associate Dean (Planning and Development) NIT Uttarkhand. Dr. Nautiyal is a respected reviewer for several international journals and a life member of professional societies such as the Transportation Research Group of India, Indian Road Congress, and Indian Society of Remote Sensing. His dedication to research excellence and teaching contributes to advancing transportation engineering and nurturing future civil engineering professionals.
